TO SEE RAP BATTLE!

St. Louis, Missouri producer Seneca Cayson answers demands and threats to release a much-talked-about "Rap Battle America" video on the heels of a frenzy created after fans saw snippets of the battles on the Internet.

Cayson says what started out as a Halloween night showdown has turned into a battle rap firestorm, with fans and rappers alike scrambling to get their hands on footage of face-offs between some of the hottest battle rappers in the country, among them St. Louis rapper Hitman Holla and New Yorker Goodz da Animal. The video also features battles between Harlem's T-Rex and Young Ill - E. St. Louis and 106 & Park champion Big Will also from St, Louis and K-Shine - Harlem.

As the host and producer of the event, Cayson now finds himself in the eye of a raging storm. "I released trailers from the event and overnight I had people demanding to see the full versions of the footage, before the Internet mob took it upon themselves to try to get the footage even faster. A friend told me that my personal information was online and I started getting phone calls out of the blue." Even worse, he says, people are so hyped to see the remaining battle footage he started receiving threats from overzealous fans.

Cayson said he is disappointed by threats to see his rap battles but, nonetheless, is taking them seriously. "All of this is happening from the movement born out of these battles," he says. "Of course I knew I produced something big, we're just starting to see how big. My team and I are working on creative distribution that will be good for everyone however, I can't give in to the terrorists."

A "Rap Battle America" executive working with Seneca says they are looking into a huge multiplatform event. "Seneca has definitely tapped into something here when it comes to showcasing the biggest battle rappers in the country," he says. The much talked about "Rap Battle America" video with more than an hour of footage featuring battle rappers from across the country will be released soon.

Best known as a producer who has worked with the likes of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as well as Yo Gotti and Lil Wayne, Cayson says that many of the battle rappers are circling him because he seems to have "come out of nowhere with this video. Everybody's trying to figure out what's what," he says. "Not only are the battle rappers a story but I'm a story. I'm now the most hated guy in battle rap."

Cayson says the footage, which quickly garnered over 100,000 views, is so appealing because of the manner in which it was shot. "If you watch it, it's so captivating," he says. "With my film and production background, I was able to look into battle rap from a whole other angle and was able to deliver it in a way that had never been delivered before so the camera angles and talent drew people in even more. It became more than a battle. It became a reality show in a sense. A lot of this negativity is directed from the fear of the competitors."
